Holly E. Reed is assistant professor of sociology at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY) and a faculty associate of the CUNY Institute for Demographic Research. She is the acting director of the MA program in Data Analytics and Applied Social Research at Queens College. Her primary current research project explores the health, demography and well-being of African immigrants and refugees in the United States. She also has conducted both past and ongoing research on internal migration, urbanization, international migration, social networks, forced migration, and demographic dynamics in sub-Saharan Africa—including Ghana, South Africa, and Nigeria. Professor Reed previously served as a program officer for the Committee on Population of the National Academies in Washington, DC, where she wrote and edited reports on various topics in international demography, including urbanization and development, forced migration, maternal mortality, and fertility change.  Professor Reed has a Ph.D. in sociology from Brown University, and an M.A. in demography and B.S. in international relations from Georgetown University.
