Dissertation Description:

Jinwon is currently working on her dissertation which analyzes how a non-Western culture becomes embedded in a Western urban context as a new form of an ethnic enclave by focusing on Manhattan’s Korea town. She focuses on not onyl the physical uniqueness of the urban landscape in Manhattan’s Koreatown but also the historical and socio-cultural code of an ethnic consumption space which is constructed by immigrants and young transnational actors since 1965.
